Insanely Yummy #21DSD Chocolate Energizing Shake

Insanely Yummy #21DSD Chocolate Energizing Shake

Oh my word – I can’t believe I haven’t shared this recipe with you all sooner! I apologize now, because once you begin to add this to your daily routine, you will see why I love it so much.

I recently completed my second round of the popular 21 Day Sugar Detox program and this shake was part of my success. The thought of eliminating the sugar from my diet seemed impossible, but I have done it without losing my mind.

I like chocolate and I need quick and easy food. This powerful breakfast shake has become an integral part of my most productive days.

Insanely Yummy #21DSD Chocolate Energizing Shake Recipe

  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 1 cup almond milk (be sure to get a brand that does not have carrageenan)
  • 1 scoop unsweetened protein powder (I use this)
  • 2 Tablespoons organic cacao powder (I use this)
  • 1 teaspoon organic maca powder (I use this)
  • 1/2 teaspoon organic cinnamon (I use this)
  • 1/3 cup organic pumpkin puree (I use this)
  • 1/2 teaspoon organic vanilla flavoring (I use this)
  • 1 green tipped banana

Add all of the ingredients to your blender. Turn it on for 30 seconds and ENJOY!

Insanely Yummy #21DSD Chocolate Energizing Shake Recipe

It may take your taste buds a bit to get use to this less sweet version of a shake, but it is so satisfying and packed full of food our body can really use. Sometimes I use 1/2 cup of brewed coffee that has been cooled too. Feel free to change it up a bit to meet your taste – just NO SUGAR!

A Couple Notes About the Ingredients

I recently discovered maca powder. Check it out. Maca powder has been shown to support healthy hormone levels, enhance vitality, and sustain natural energy levels. It also promotes a radiant complexion and glowing skin. It is packed full of minerals, fatty acids, and plant sterols which offer a wide range of benefits for your body. I have noticed a difference on the days I do not start my day with a shake. I definitely have seen an increase in energy, focus, and motivation!

Pumpkin puree is a great source of fiber, rich in iron, and a great source of Vitamin A which in turn is great for your eyes. It is a low calorie source of a great punch for the body.

I have lost five pounds in my second round of the #21DSD. My taste buds have changed. My body has changed. I have more energy and less inflammation. I wake up feeling ready for the day. I especially love knowing I am reducing the risk of illness from the food I choose to eat. I dare you to do any research about what sugar does to your body and how it is hidden in everything. I am thankful to have education and knowledge. That is power for helping us be the best we can be!

Now, go enjoy this fabulous shake recipe and comment when you have. You will want to share it with everyone! Have you done a round of the #21DSD before? Did you have a favorite recipe?

Easy DIY Skin Cleansing Face Mask for All Ages

Easy DIY Skin Cleansing Face Mask for All Ages

It’s time to let our skin shine this summer! I love the feeling of soft, smooth skin and I was thrilled when my daughter shared one of her favorite DIY face mask recipes with me.

I may have an occasional blemish here or there, but my main focus is to help my skin in its maturing state. This recipe is great for all ages – from teens to mature adults (I think that is what I call myself now at almost 50!).

Why Are These Ingredients Beneficial?

Bentonite clay pulls out toxins, chemicals, and even heavy metals. The clay also helps provide oxygen to cells and has an alkalizing effect. Bentonite clay is rich in beneficial minerals, such as magnesium, silica, and calcium.

The alpha hydroxyl acids in apple cider vinegar help keep skin pores open and dissolve dead skin cells. Moreover, apple cider vinegar treats occasional blemishes, restores the natural pH of your skin, and minimizes the appearance of pores.

When mixed together with other beneficial, skin-supporting essential oils, you can easily create a mask that can safely and effectively be used for maintaining healthy skin. I love that! It’s effective, inexpensive, and great for the entire family.

Melaleuca Alternifolia Essential Oil (also known as Tea Tree) has long been valued for its cosmetic benefits, especially for its natural skin-cleansing benefits. Tea Tree’s intrinsic properties cleanse away dirt, toxins, and dead skin, giving you healthy-looking and feeling skin.

Lavender Essential Oil is very helpful for using to keep your skin in a healthy state. It’s balancing and gentle on the skin, promoting relaxation too.

Both of these essential oils come in the Premium Starter Kit too!

Here is what it looks like as it is drying. It isn’t pretty, but it is effective! Please do not pin THIS picture on Pinterest. đŸ™‚

Combine the bentonite clay in a small bowl. Please do not use a metal utensil or bowl when working with bentonite clay. Add in apple cider vinegar to make a spreadable paste.

Add 4 drops of essential oils and stir. Apply to the face for 10-15 minutes.

To remove the mask, wash your face with warm water and a washcloth. I especially love applying this and then taking an Epsom salt bath as well. The perfect relaxing evening – and all DIY!

Use up to 3 times a week and enjoy vibrant skin for summer!

Easy DIY Homemade Dishwasher Detergent Recipe

Easy DIY Homemade Dishwasher Detergent Recipe

Over the years I have made changes in what I eat, cleaners I use, and what I put on my skin – all in an effort to bring complete health into our home. When we are intentional about the choices of products we use, it is amazing how the body can thrive!

One of the things I have been unable to switch over to was a homemade dishwasher detergent – until now! Finally, I have a simple recipe that is cost effective and truly does the job.

Young Living Essential Oils Dishwasher Detergent

This recipe was shared on the Young Living Facebook page, so I thought I would give it a try. I did make a batch using Purification, but from now on I will be adding citrus oils instead. I love the fresh scents of Orange and Tangerine!

Dishwasher Detergent Recipe

This is the recipe and the links to the ingredients. I love using Amazon Prime for my household needs!

Mix the ingredients all up – super simple! Add 2 T per dishwashing cycle. I am experimenting to see if I can get away with less. I will let you know.

By using the Purification essential oil you are making a batch that will cost you $3.54 for about 12 loads. By using a citrus essential oil, like Orange, I can reduce the cost to $2.74 or $.23 per load. It certainly is not the cheapest detergent around, however, I love knowing exactly what I am using and to be honest, it was simple to keep on hand.

I store it in a glass jar under my sink with a cute little scoop.

Still waiting to get on board with essential oils? You’ll get a bottle of Purification in your Premium Starter Kit – so you can easily try out this recipe with it or your Lemon essential oil.
