Up Your Game in 2012

Face it, some days are easier than others!  As a mom you are constantly giving to everyone else.   As I write this note it is only 9:00 AM and I am already exhausted – I am in the midst of potty training and we have visited the potty chair 22 times in the past hour – REALLY!  And I am still in my pajamas

How do you keep on top of things?  It seems there are different answers for each woman,  what works for you may not work for me and vice versa.  But there are a few key ingredients to keep us at our best.

Sleep

I know we have all been there, feeling completely exhausted and unable to find any bit of patience that is left within our bodies!  Do you get the sleep you need?  If not, why?  Are you trying to cram too much into your day, expecting too much from your body?  Being tired is the number 1 reason mom’s lose their temper, resulting in situations that could be calmly dealt with turning into horrible screaming matches that we end up feeling guilty about.

Figure out what your optimum sleep pattern is, what time do you need to get to bed in order to be your best when it is time to jump back into the game.

Food

I am guilty of this one all too often.  We spend a lot of time focusing on giving our kids the healthiest food yet we like to multi-task and end up not sitting down with our kids to eat a healthy breakfast or lunch with them.  We expect our body to run on coffee!  I am intentionally trying to change my eating habits after taking Lisa Byrne’s course, Designed for Wellness last year.  It was apparent to me that I need to change my behavior, especially after being diagnosed with Lupus.  It has become even more critical to care for my body in a way to stay healthy.

Activity

Get up and get moving.  It doesn’t have to be boring or a tedious activity either.  Find something you love to do and commit to providing space in your day to participate.  A walk outside with your toddler, an exercise DVD, dancing in the living room to your favorite music – find something.

Hobby

It is easy to put our needs and desires to be creative on the back burner as we tend to our families.  There is always something more important to take care of then sitting down to knit, scrapbook or paint.  I know for myself, if I can take some time during the week to be creative, it wakes up a part of my brain which doesn’t get used very often!  I feel better, more energized and much more pleasant to be around – which definitely benefits my family.

My colleague and friend, Lisa Byrne, is gearing up for a group-run of her signature course, Designed for Wellness, the exact one I took a year ago.  If you’ve been feeling tapped out, frazzled and depleted, or you just want to get a healthy jumpstart for your new year, check out the course page.  It just might be exactly what your body is craving from you.

The 12-week, online course covers all aspects of healthy living — specifically in ways that are realistic for busy moms to implement into daily living.  She has also just released an incredible bonus package to accompany the course worth over $185!  You will want to check that out – if you sign up before Monday, January 16th you will get all those goodies too.

If you are not quite ready to take the course, you might be interested in her ebook, “The Real Food Cleansing Guide” which offers a clear, food-based, seasonal approach to cleansing that will give your body a chance to rid itself of excess toxins, regain its energy, and feel lighter.

Lisa also has a ton of FREE resources that I know you will love!

I’m an affiliate with WellGrounded Life because I so deeply believe in and support the work that Lisa is doing with women and mothers around the world.  When you purchase an item using one of my links, I earn a small commission which helps me support moms.
