Weekly Household Quick Tip

This week’s task in the Weekly Household Planner for Sunday(s)

Review Weekly Family Calendar

How does your week go when you actually take the time to review what is coming up during the week?  You probably have had those weeks where you haven’t and things have slipped by because they were not fresh in your mind or your calendar was not in sync with your hubby’s.  It makes things chaotic and stressful – both of which we do not need more of!

Do you have a system in place that keeps your entire family schedule in one place?  Can you access it while away from home, do you have to transfer items on it when you get home and can your kids (if they are old enough) look at the schedule and see what is going on without having to come to you several times a day?

Our family has used Microsoft Outlook for years.  For my hubby and I it was great to keep each other up to date on appointments – but when our kids got old enough to have their own computers, it seemed there had to be a better way.  That is when I discovered Cozi – and it syncs with Outlook too!

This online calendar is an awesome way to keep everything in one place, including grocery lists, recipes, family appointments and so much more.  There are a lot of things I love about Cozi, but one of the greatest things for our blended family is that our kids can access it while they are away at the other parent’s house.  They can see what their schedule is when they return to our house, can schedule appointments, time with friends, etc because they can see what we have planned as a family.  It is great!  So not only does it work for spouses to keep up with each others schedule, but it works for your kids too.  If your kids are younger, they have an option to print the day or weekly calendar out and post it, we do this for our younger ones so they have access to the day’s schedule.

An even more convenient feature is that you can keep lists for all different stores on the site and who ever is out and stops at the store will have the list of items needed from that spot.  You can even add items while the person is on the way to the store and they can access it from their smart phone.  This has been a life saver for Costco runs!

I wrote another post here about Cozi, but you can also jump over to their site and take a look.  I think it will make your weekly review a much more pleasant task!

What calendar system do you use for your family?

PS – last week’s tip was about rotating seasonal clothing – I cleared my closet and listed some items on ebay this past week and made $75 on just 4 items!
