Can you guess the most important job???

Taken from Screamfree Parenting Tip of the Day by Hal Runkel, LMFT

Quote of the Day: ” The most important work you and I will ever do is within the walls of our own homes. ” — Harold B. Lee (1899-1973)

Parenting is one of life’s most demanding adventures. It’s expensive, exhausting, and on many days exasperating. It forces us to continually grow in ways that we usually don’t want to and it makes even the most confident of us question our competence.
But at the end of the day, when your kids are asleep, you know that it was all worth it. Working hard on yourself for the benefit of your family is one of the most noble and selfless things you can do. You are not only benefiting your children, but you are shaping an entire generation. So, the next time you find yourself wondering if all this ScreamFree stuff is really worthwhile, go take a peek at your sleeping babes. Watch their chests rise and fall and know that you are undertaking the most important job in the whole world: being a great parent.

Often this is forgotten or rather your job as a parent seems to be a second thought.  But do you realize the influence you have on your family and especially how your children will be shaped?  I love that even in the small things it helps to stop and remember this key point and give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done – even when you are doubting yourself!
