The Little Things

I have been thinking about the little things in my life lately, those things that bring me joy, brighten my day or put that spring in my step.  I consider myself a rather simple gal, I do not care much for extravagant gifts (see my post on my anniversary gift) I like spending time at home, enjoy a good cup of coffee and do not need to put on make-up to run to the grocery store.  No fuss, no muss.

My life has been a little full lately, crazy busy with speaking engagements, parenting obligations, ministry and of course my business here – but today I just took some time to think about those things that just help get me through a hectic day.

  • Taking our dogs outside to play ball – they run so fast and I love watching them bolt back to me with that tennis ball stuffed in their mouth.
  • Smelling a yummy candle that is burning in my kitchen when I go grab another cup of coffee.
  • The voice of my husband asking what he can do for me to help out.
  • The sound of the garage door opening when my 17 yr old daughter comes home from school.
  • Our full table at dinner time when our whole family is here, laughing and sharing about their day  (we are a blended family, so more often than not, there are people missing)
  • An email from a mom who was encouraged by a post or tip that came to her in-box.
  • Sitting outside in the crisp fall air and letting the sun shine on my face.

What are the little things that brighten your day?  Do you often overlook them?
