Tackling tasks in the Weekly Household Planner:

Clean the outside of refrigerator

I love that I can keep my refrigerator clean by doing just a bit each week rather than a huge overhaul.  Although, there are certain times when taking it all out and going through items is necessary, taking a shelf at a time and/or the outside is perfect for a cleaning routine.

This week you just have the outside of the refrigerator to clean.  It is also a good time to clean up any items that are posted on the frig.  Since I have a three year old who loves showing off his work, my refrigerator often gets cluttered with his wonderful projects from home and school.  It is a good time to decide what is being kept and file those away as well as clear excess magnets, papers, lists, etc.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind with regard to keeping your refrigerator clean and things running smoothly.

  • Keep a box of baking soda in both your refrigerator and freezer, remember to change it every 6 months or so.
  • Using clear containers for food storage is helpful for quickly seeing what’s inside – especially when you have younger kids in the house.  Left-overs are more often eaten – I know this from personal experience!  I have been converting all my plastic containers that have gotten stained or you cannot see through to glass containers with lids.  I especially watch on amazon for these sets to go on sale,  I recently got a set of 3 glass containers with lids from Kohl’s for only $7.88!
  • Check the temperature setting regularly in both your refrigerator and freezer.  You will do better if you try to keep them set at the manufacturer’s recommended settings.
  • Have a spray bottle handy (I keep mine under the sink) with your favorite cleaner so you can quickly zap any thieves cleanerspills or splatters and wipe them up.  I just got my Thieves Household Cleaner in my Essential Rewards order this month and mixed up 1 T with some water in a spray bottle I bought at the dollar store.  I love the smell; it combines both Thieves, Lemon, Eucalyptus, Rosemary and Cinnamon Bark essential oils.

I will be talking more on this soon, Thieves has made a huge difference in the state of our health in the past 3 months, most recently with my daughter who was diagnosed with Shingles.

What tip do you have for keeping things fresh in your frig?

Hello I’m so new to essintial oils and when I come to different websites/blogs I get really confused. I got lead to essintial oils because my youngest wasn’t sleeping and from their realized how much the oils have really changed peoples lives. Is there a place that has started kits? Is there better oils to have over the others? I’m just lost as to where to start to jump start my essintial oil life 🙂 THanks so much… Jamie

  • You have come to the right place! I would love to help you navigate! You can start with Young Living’s Premium Starter Kit which has 11 oils and also comes with a diffuser. You will have oils to treat many different issues, so is a great place to start and get your experience with oils. I also have a Private Facebook page which can help with knowing what to use and suggestions. I will email you!
