What I Wish Someone Had Told Me About Perimenopause, Menopause, and Beyond

Hormones Blog Rszd

If you’re in your 40s, 50s, or beyond and wondering why you suddenly feel different, you’re not alone.

Looking back, I wish someone had sat me down and explained what was happening.

I wish someone had told me that hormones affect so much more than our periods.

I wish someone had told me that sleep, energy, mood, cravings, weight gain, intimacy, and even our ability to handle stress can all shift during this season of life.

And I definitely wish someone had told me that I wasn’t doing anything wrong.

For most of my life, my cycles were fairly regular. I didn’t struggle with severe PMS or major hormonal issues. Then around age 53, things started changing.

Not overnight.

Gradually.

I experienced hot flashes, brain fog, weight gain, bloating, lower energy, changes in sleep, and changes in libido. I found myself wondering why the things that had always worked for me suddenly weren’t working anymore.

What I eventually learned was that my body wasn’t failing.

My body was changing.

That realization changed everything.

Watch the Full Workshop

In this workshop, I share:

  • The things I wish I’d understood sooner about hormones
  • Why testing can be so valuable
  • The surprising truth about Vitamin D
  • The daily habits that helped me the most
  • Stress, sleep, and why they matter more than we think
  • Supporting liver health during menopause
  • Why I became more aware of synthetic fragrance exposure
  • My experience with intimacy changes and vaginal atrophy
  • The products and routines that have supported me along the way

The Biggest Lessons I Learned

Data Is Everything

One of the biggest mistakes I made was guessing.

Trying things.

Wondering.

Hoping.

Eventually I realized information is empowering.

Whether it’s hormone testing, Vitamin D testing, or simply paying attention to symptoms, information helps us make better decisions.

The Basics Matter More Than We Think

If I had to choose the things that made the biggest difference, they wouldn’t be the most exciting things.

They would be:

  • Walking
  • Morning sunlight
  • Protein
  • Strength training
  • Stress management
  • Sleep
  • Magnesium

The basics aren’t flashy, but they work.

Health Isn’t Only About What We Add

It’s also about what we remove.

One of the biggest mindset shifts for me was becoming more aware of what I was putting on and around my body every day.

That journey eventually led me to make changes to personal care products, fragrance, and other everyday exposures.

We Need To Talk About Intimacy

This may have been one of the most important parts of the workshop.

Nobody warned me about vaginal atrophy.

Nobody explained how intimacy could change during menopause.

And yet so many women experience it.

Please know this:

You do not have to suffer in silence.

There are options.

There is support.

And you’re certainly not alone.

Final Thoughts

If there is one thing I hope women take away from this conversation, it’s this:

You don’t need to do everything.

You don’t need the perfect plan.

You simply need to take the next step.

My hope is that you leave with a little more information, a little more confidence, and a few practical next steps to explore.
