My Favorite Wellness Staples for Midlife

My Wellness Staples Rszd

One of my favorite questions to get asked is: “What supplements and wellness products do you actually use?”

I love this question because it tells me something important…women are becoming more intentional about their health. They’re asking deeper questions. They want to feel empowered instead of defeated. They want energy, peace, clarity, strength, and vitality as they enter this next season of life.

And honestly? I think that’s beautiful.

As a 59-year-old YA-YA, mama, and wife entering what I lovingly call my “third act,” I have massive hope about aging well. I want to feel strong. Clear-minded. Emotionally balanced. Full of life and vitality. I want to continue showing up for my family, my purpose, and the life God has given me with energy and joy.

But getting here has been quite the journey.

My Healing Journey

Many people don’t know this about me, but I struggled with chronic depression for over 16 years and was heavily medicated during that season of my life. Today, by God’s grace, I have been free from depression medication for over 13 years.

I was also diagnosed with both Systemic and Cutaneous Lupus and dealt with very real autoimmune struggles. Yet today, I have been symptom-free for over 9 years.

That doesn’t mean I found some magic cure or perfect formula.

It means I started learning how to support my body instead of constantly fighting against it.

I began digging deeper into nutrition, nervous system support, stress, hormones, inflammation, toxins, and whole-food nourishment. I learned that the body is absolutely incredible when we begin giving it what it truly needs.

And now? One of my greatest joys is helping other women realize there is hope for them too.

Our bodies were designed beautifully.

Sometimes they simply need support, nourishment, rest, and consistency.

My Philosophy on Supplements

I’ll also say this upfront: I tend to be a loyalist.

If I find something that genuinely works for me and supports my body well, I usually stick with it long term. I’m not constantly chasing trends or trying every new thing that comes out.

I also don’t believe every supplement needs to be taken every single day forever.

Part of wellness is learning your body.

Listening. Paying attention. Using intuition.

I personally muscle test often and really try to tune into what my body may need more support with during different seasons.

As someone who has several MTHFR gene mutations, I’ve learned I need to be mindful about supporting detox pathways, nervous system regulation, stress response, and overall inflammation without overtaxing my body.

And one thing I know for sure: You cannot out-supplement a poor diet.

No supplement replaces real food, movement, hydration, sunlight, sleep, nervous system care, and reducing stress. Supplements are SUPPORT—not the foundation.

For me, the foundation is whole-food nourishment, movement, intentional habits, and learning how to work WITH my body instead of against it.

These are simply some of the products and staples that have consistently supported me over the years.

My Core Wellness Staples

Beef Liver Organs—Paleo Valley

This is one of the most nutrient-dense whole food supplements I personally take.

Beef liver is naturally rich in:

  • Iron
  • B vitamins
  • Vitamin A
  • Folate
  • Minerals that support hormones, energy, skin, hair, and vitality

Especially as women enter midlife, so many of us are depleted nutritionally. I love using whole-food sources whenever possible instead of relying only on synthetic vitamins.

Even my 16-year-old takes these because I believe deeply in nourishing the body from a foundational level.

NingXia Red

I call this my “insurance policy” drink because it’s been one of my longest-standing wellness staples.

It’s packed with antioxidants from wolfberries and other fruits, and I genuinely notice a difference in my overall wellness and energy when I’m consistent with it.

It’s also something I actually ENJOY drinking, which matters when building sustainable habits.

  • Holy Basil
  • …and several others

These ingredients are known for supporting:

Racing Mind Relief (Azure Standard)

This one has honestly been amazing for both me and my teenage son.

If you’ve ever laid in bed with your brain spinning endlessly, you understand why I love this product. I take it one to two hours before bed, along with my staple magnesium and I sleep like a baby!

It contains magnesium and calming herbs that help support:

  • Relaxation
  • Emotional balance
  • Restful sleep
  • Nervous system support
  • Mental calm

Hormone Harmony

This has personally been one of the BEST natural supports I’ve found for my hormones.

I personally do not take HRT, though I recently added testosterone cream and have also used Progessence Plus from Young Living for years. This combination has been incredibly supportive for me in midlife.

This supplement has helped support:

  • Mood
  • Sleep
  • Stress adaptation
  • Hormone balance
  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Midlife transitions

Hormones are deeply connected to how we feel physically, emotionally, and mentally as women—and I think many women underestimate how much imbalance can affect everyday life.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that supporting hormones isn’t just about estrogen or progesterone alone. It’s also about supporting the nervous system, stress response, minerals, detox pathways, inflammation, blood sugar balance, and overall nourishment.

Many of the herbs and adaptogens commonly found in hormone-support supplements have been studied for their supportive role in stress adaptation, menopause symptoms, cortisol balance, and mood support.

Helpful Research & Ingredient Studies
  • Ashwagandha—Studied for stress, cortisol, and menopausal support
  • Maca Root—Studied for menopause symptoms, mood, and energy
  • Magnesium—Important for nervous system regulation, sleep, and hormone health
  • Adaptogens and stress response support
  • Black Cohosh—Researched for menopausal symptom support
  • Rhodiola—Studied for fatigue, stress resilience, and mood

Our whole family takes this.

Magnesium is involved in hundreds of functions in the body, including:

  • Sleep
  • Muscle recovery
  • Stress support
  • Nervous system regulation
  • Energy production

What I love about this one specifically is that it contains all seven major forms of magnesium instead of just one or two.

And honestly? Most people are deficient without realizing it.

Clean Skincare & Makeup

I’ve become incredibly intentional about what I put ON my body too.

After years of learning about toxins, endocrine disruptors, and how much our skin absorbs daily, switching to cleaner skincare and makeup became really important to me. And honestly? I’ve learned that good quality skincare is such a gift to yourself—and it doesn’t have to completely break the budget either.

One of the things I love most about With Simplicity is exactly what their name says…simplicity.

The ingredients are clean, thoughtfully chosen, organic whenever possible, and the products actually WORK. I also deeply love the founder and her story, which makes supporting the company feel even more meaningful to me.

These are some of my personal favorites that I use over and over again:

  • Cleansing Milk—Gentle, nourishing, and doesn’t strip the skin
  • Bar Soap—Simple, clean ingredients and leaves skin feeling soft
  • Liquid Foundation—Lightweight but beautiful coverage
  • Powder Foundation—Easy, natural everyday finish
  • Tri-Stick—One of my FAVORITES for quick makeup days
  • Lipstick—Clean beauty without compromising performance
  • Barrier & Beyond—Incredible for supporting dry or compromised skin
  • Blue Dew—Deeply hydrating and soothing
  • Hydra Glow Serum—Gives such a healthy, nourished glow

As I’ve gotten older, I care less about perfection and more about healthy, nourished skin that feels cared for. These products help me feel polished and confident without loading my body with unnecessary chemicals.

Simple.
Clean.
Effective.
Intentional.

That’s really the goal for me these days.

Final Thoughts

If you’re reading this feeling overwhelmed, please hear me clearly:

Do NOT feel like you need to overhaul your life overnight.

Start with one or two small changes.
Build slowly.
Pay attention to your body.
Stay curious.
Stay consistent.

Remember my motto:
Small intentional habits.
One step at a time.

That’s truly how we change our homes, our health, our minds, and our lives.

There is hope.
The body is amazing.
And healing is often much more possible than we’ve been led to believe.

I’ll continue sharing more of my story and what I’ve learned along the way because I truly want women to know they are not stuck forever.
