Welcoming a New Puppy!

We are a dog family.  And to take it two steps further we are a two dog family.  :-)

I grew up with dogs but never really considered myself a dog person, until we got our first dog after I was married 7 years ago.  We brought Molly, a Goldendoodle into our house and with it a lot of joy into our life.

A few years later we got another puppy, Riley and unfortunately he had some medical issues that just were beyond what we could care for. You can read his amazing story here, grab some tissues, but it ends all good!!

It has taken me a year to grieve the loss of our Riley dog.  I know he is being well cared for and loved even more than I can imagine, but my heart still misses him.  I used a lot of essential oils to help me through the emotional up and downs, as well as just talking about his wonderful sweet soul.  He was such a good dog, and finally…. finally… I can talk about him without bursting out in tears and sobbing.

We’ve known we would eventually get a new dog to join our family and it so happened the logistics of it developed quickly.  We called some breeders on Halloween, chose a puppy the same day and picked him up to bring him home on November 11th.

The timing was perfect, as my hubby is home for the entire month on vacation, so we are able to put in the ‘over-time’ needed when you are puppy training.

So without further ado….. here is Milo, our newest member of the family.

Here we are taking him home – not all of our kids could join in the pick-up, but they were home waiting when we arrived!

He is an Australian Labradoodle and will grow to be about 45-50 pounds.  Our family loves the ‘doodle’ mixes and this was a good fit for us this time around.

I am not interested in starting a debate or argument for shelter dogs versus dogs from breeders, so please do not begin that here.  This route was the right decision for our family and that is the most important thing to consider.  When getting any dog you need to make the best decision for your family.

So enjoy some fun photos of our new guy and the silly puppy stage.  And you know where I will be, as his little goofiness has captured my heart!

Maybe I will share a top 10 post on new puppy tips soon, I would sure have it fresh in my mind.

He has to get the very last drop of food and the only way he seems to be able to do this is to hug his bowl!

Puppy’s sleep a lot!
